I chose the competition card because I have always been a competitive person especially when it comes to athletics and academics. It is always fun to compete with my jumping teammates at practice and have a good time. Competition can also be a great motivator to keep up with your peers in whatever you may be doing and is incredibly important in every aspect of life.
One of the main principles that I try to maintain in my life is consistency. I believe consistency is one of the most important things you can practice because progress requires steady and intentional practice even if it's something small. One example from my experience is gaining strength, it certainly does not happen overnight and if you are not in the gym at least 3-4 days a week you will not get anywhere.
Discipline was the first card I chose and is by far the most important to me out of the 5. Everything we do in life required discipline, especially long-term goals, and without it you will never reach your full potential. One personal example is my journey in learning Koine Greek. Often times motivation can run out but you have to kick your feelings aside and learn anyway.
Focus is one of those topics that I feel like a lot of people do not have anymore. There are so many distractions and comforts that we run to today which makes the ability to sit down and fully focus on what you are doing ever more important. There have been times where I would sit down to get work done and 10 minutes would go by and I would have gotten nothing done.
The last card that I chose is responsibility. I believe that just like the others responsibility is a core attribute that everyone needs to have on a day to day basis. Being responsible allows us to get tasks done on time and be trustworthy not only to others but also to ourselves. Luckily, I have a natural tendency to be overly responsible and often get assignments done days before they are due.
The focus strength is most definitely the one that I would want to develop further. There have been so many times where I would get distracted by my phone or youtube or a game that I enjoy playing when trying to get actual work done, and it is a pretty bad habit. One of the ways that I feel helps me is to not have my phone directly beside me so it is not constantly on my mind.
